This 2019 DIY Bowhunt takes place on public land in Southwest New Mexico in the Gila National Forest. I began my archery elk hunt on September 1, 2019. I knew I would be holding out for a bigger bull than I had ever harvested so I was excited to actually see one on the third day of my hunt. I spotted this big bull across a canyon and just watched him without trying to stalk him that day. I continued hunting and spotted the bull a couple more times during the hunt and ended up getting my shot on the 10th day.
