Waterfowl Populations Doing Well, but the Work is Not Over
Back in September, news outlets reported on the decline of North American songbirds over the last 50 years. Estimates believe a 30% loss in breeding birds. Over 90% of the loss were to bird families such as sparrows, warblers, blackbirds and finches. Grasslands birds lost over 50% of their population while around 1/3rd of shorebirds have vanished.
